The Program embraces the Philosophy of Birth adopted and promoted by Lamaze® International:
For over forty years, Lamaze International has been educating and certifying childbirth educators in Lamaze Childbirth Preparation. The mission of Lamaze International is to promote, support, and protect normal birth through education and advocacy. The Lamaze Accredited Childbirth Educator Program is key to advancing this mission.
Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educators (LCCE) have been leaders in developing standards and promoting positive changes in the delivery of childbirth and early parenting education, family-centered maternity care, and in increasing consumer awareness. The Lamaze Certification Program is the only internationally recognized childbirth educator certification program that the NCCA (National Commission for Certifying Agencies) accredits.
Upon successful completion of all program requirements candidates will be eligible to take the Lamaze International Certification Examination for Childbirth Educators. Candidates who pass the International Certification Exam are certified as Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educators and then become eligible for membership as a fellow in the American College of Childbirth Educators.
